What is PV Jobs?

PVJOBS

Playa Vista Job Opportunities and Business Services has two missions:

  • To place at-risk individuals in construction jobs and related trades that pay a living wage.
  • To educate the public and private sectors in the long-term social value of that goal.

PVJOBS has placement opportunities at the Playa Vista development project in West Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Community College District's Sustainable Building Program, the Exposition Light Rail project, and various projects for the Community Redevelopment Agency-L.A.

Jobs range from brick-masons and carpenters to plumbers and sheet-metal workers.


To qualify, an applicant must be in at least one of the following at-risk categories:

  • Did not complete high school.
  • Have a history of substance abuse.
  • Be homeless.
  • Be a welfare recipient.
  • Have a household income of no more than 50% of the median income.
  • Be unemployed.
  • Have a history of involvement in the justice system.
  • Be a single parent.

Those who qualify may receive additional services such as assistance with union initiation fees, tools and work clothing, training and educational opportunities, rehabilitative supportive services and transportation assistance.
