What e7 stands for:
The Architecture Studio produces 3-D graphics, products, and building information modeling for the Los Angeles Community College District's Sustainable Building Program. Every construction document for existing buildings and ongoing projects is digitally archived.
“The idea,” said Ernest Roberts, executive director of PVJOBS, “is to one day have a massive data base at the disposal of District personnel. It would be possible, for example, for emergency respondents to zero in on any building. The data base could be tied in to equipment inventory, even down to the furniture. There are many possible applications.”
The studio also builds kiosks that contain information on green technology at campus buildings, specifying aspects of that technology worth extra points in the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED™ (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) rating and certification system. This system is the nationally recognized benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high-performance green buildings.
General services at the studio include Geographic Information System (GIS) application development, geo-spatial referencing, Computer Aided Design modeling and standards, 3-D laser scanning, and visualization and imaging.
The studio’s student interns work under architects, artists, programmers, designers, planners, educators and GIS experts.
To apply, LACCD students must be taking at least six units and provide a faculty referral letter. They can submit a resume online at https://www.pvjobsdb.org/interns.
